On Wednesday, a Maryland Lottery player - who chose to remain anonymous - was in Baltimore to claim a second-tier $1 million prize weeks after a February drawing, where he narrowly missed a $206 million jackpot.

According to Lottery officials, on Groundhog Day (Friday, Feb. 2), the player purchased tickets for the Powerball drawings on Feb. 3, Feb. 5, and Feb. 7, though Spring came early for him as he matched the first five balls drawn on his first ticket.

The player hit on 09-11-27-59-66 only missing out on hundreds of millions of dollars on the Powerball, which was 19, not 05

There have been no jackpot winners in the weeks since the Maryland man's windfall, which grew to $521 million ($249.6 cash value) when no one hit on the March 6 drawing.

He wasn't the only one to cash in on the golden ticket. For selling the winning Powerball ticket, Canopy Liquors on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park was also gifted a $2,500 bonus.
